Wensleydale Cheese Review
May 7th, '06

About time we got around to the Wensleydale cheese, seeing as it was the name of the cheese shop in the skit. But Whole Foods didn't have any, so it had to wait until I made it to the cheese mongers.

Of course this cheese is famous from the Wallace and Gromit movies, but we're really more into the Monty Python reference around here.

Country: England
Milk: cow milk
Texture: hard, crumbly
Fat content: 45%
Aged: 4-8 weeks
Producer: Wensleydale Creamery

We tried the white Wensleydale. I'm sure I'll get around to the blue version sometime. But I've had so much blue cheese lately that I feel like blue mold is seeping from my pores. The cheese was sweet with a slightly sour finish. Mild. Very crumbly. It had a taste very much like cottage cheese. It's been said this is a good cheese to compliment pie, and I'd say it probably is. Unfortunately we don't have pie very often, so I can't speak to that.

Crackin' cheese, Gromit!

You just knew somebody had too, didn't you!

We're still trying to figure out how badly we'll get sued if we build a Wallace and Gromit cheese page.
