Port Salut Cheese Review
Apr 29th, '06

The Port Salut was a hit around casa Sullivan. The cat loved it, and he had a large wedge. And even Miss BatGrl came back for seconds.

Very creamy. A slight acidic tang. More sour than sweet. I just carved off some hunks and munched away, but this cheese would go well with all sorts of fruit, wine or bread.

But, at the end of the day cheese is really just milk curdled with calves stomach right? So for those who don't feel the need to be quite so snooty with their cheese, I'll just say Port Salut is like really good Jack cheese, only much creamier. And, at $10 a pound, maybe it just worth it.

Is the rind edible?

yes and no!

It is considered edible, but is made of wax... if you let the cheese warm up a bit, it is easily peeled off and the cheese is better because of this.
